Surgical Oncology Center

The Surgical Oncology Center is responsible for surgical evaluation and integration with comprehensive treatment for multiple tumor types, emphasizing that "surgery is not isolated; timing and planning are critical." Preoperatively, the center evaluates resectability, perioperative risks, and recurrence risks based on imaging staging, pathology, and comorbidities. Relying on the hospital's MDT (multidisciplinary team) mechanism, the center coordinates with radiotherapy and systemic therapies (chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy) to develop neoadjuvant, adjuvant, or recurrence management strategies, ensuring that surgery and subsequent treatments are well-timed and continuous.

In terms of technical implementation, the center selects open or minimally invasive approaches based on tumor location and patient condition, and can incorporate platforms such as the Da Vinci robotic system to optimize the balance between tumor control and functional preservation. Perioperative management includes close collaboration with anesthesia and ICU teams to carefully manage anesthesia, bleeding, infection risk, and postoperative recovery, while coordinating with rehabilitation teams to promote functional restoration and quality of life.

Beyond therapeutic surgeries such as resection or debulking, the surgical team plays a crucial role in "creating conditions for subsequent treatment" in complex cases. For example, in neuro-oncology or metastatic scenarios, tumor resection, debulking, or biopsy can provide pathological information to guide precision radiotherapy and systemic therapy. In patients with hydrocephalus or elevated intracranial pressure, shunt/drainage or Ommaya reservoir implantation may be performed to safely prepare patients for further antitumor treatment. For late-stage refractory pain, stereotactic targeted thermal ablation can be applied after careful assessment to relieve symptoms.

The center aims to translate surgical capabilities into "connected and sustainable" comprehensive treatment support, enabling patients not only to complete surgery but also to experience a continuous, reliable, one-stop care pathway through subsequent therapy, reassessment, and recovery.
