Thoracic Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center

The Thoracic Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center provides diagnosis and treatment services primarily for lung tumors, and also covers tumors of the mediastinum, pleura/pericardium, thymus, and other related sites. Considering the diversity of thoracic tumor types and the complexity of tumor locations, the center emphasizes early determination of diagnostic conclusions, disease extent, and treatment goals based on imaging evaluation and pathological diagnosis, combined with lung function assessment and comorbidity status, to provide a reliable basis for subsequent treatment decisions.

Under our hospital's MDT (multidisciplinary team) consultation mechanism, the Thoracic Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Center functions as a specialized unit, coordinating surgical, radiotherapy, systemic therapy, and minimally invasive interventions to address three main needs: local control, systemic treatment, and management of complications. For patients requiring surgical assessment, the center emphasizes resectability evaluation and perioperative management; for those needing drug therapy, it focuses on efficacy assessment and management of adverse reactions; for patients with pleural effusion, shortness of breath, hemoptysis, pain, or other issues affecting quality of life, symptomatic management and supportive therapy are applied to minimize treatment interruptions and repeated visits.

For patients requiring radiotherapy, the center places particular emphasis on controlling uncertainties caused by respiratory motion: from pre-treatment evaluation and positioning, to intra-treatment imaging verification and motion management, and through periodic reassessment and strategy adjustment, every step is optimized to match the patient's current status, reducing repetition and waiting times. We aim for patients to gain not only technical knowledge but also a treatment process that is easier to cooperate with and more sustainably executed---while ensuring treatment efficacy, protection of critical organs is better controlled, treatment schedules are clearer, and the entire thoracic tumor treatment and follow-up management can be completed more reliably.
