Congratulations! Professor Zhang Junyi Re-elected as President of the 9th Council of the Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association

On the morning of June 28, 2026, the 9th Members’ Representative Congress and Council Election Conference of the Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association was solemnly held at the Guangdong Hotel. Zhang Yin, Director of the Academic Affairs Department of the Guangzhou Association for Science and Technology, attended the event to provide guidance. More than 170 member representatives, together with former Association leaders and distinguished experts, gathered to witness this important occasion.

The conference was conducted in strict accordance with the Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations and the Association’s Constitution. All agenda items were carried out in full compliance with the relevant regulations and the Association’s Constitution. Delegates successively reviewed and approved the Work Report of the 8th Council, the Supervisory Board Report, the Financial Report, and the proposed amendments to the Constitution. Democratic elections were conducted by secret ballot throughout the conference, ensuring a transparent, standardized, and fully compliant electoral process.
The conference officially opened with the solemn performance of the National Anthem. Professor Zhang Junyi, Director of the Second Ward of the Department of Radiation Oncology at our hospital and President of the 8th Council, presented the Council’s work report. He comprehensively reviewed the Association’s achievements over the past four years, highlighting substantial progress in Party-building leadership, high-level academic exchange, the development of clinical guidelines for cancer diagnosis and treatment, public education on cancer prevention, and organizational development. He also outlined a clear vision and strategic direction for the Association’s next stage of growth.

Following the secret-ballot election, conducted under the full supervision of the vote-counting committee, the conference successfully elected 109 members of the 9th Council and 9 members of the Supervisory Board. Professor Zhang Junyi was re-elected as President of the 9th Council with overwhelming support. In his inaugural address, Professor Zhang stated that the new Council would remain firmly committed to the Association’s guiding principles of “unity, pragmatism, academic excellence, and public service.” It will continue to unite oncology professionals across Guangzhou, strengthen high-quality platforms for academic exchange, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, expand community-oriented cancer prevention and education programs, and further enhance the standardization of regional cancer diagnosis and treatment. Through these efforts, the Association aims to advance the high-quality development of cancer prevention and control, contribute more substantially to the Healthy China initiative, and better safeguard the lives and health of the public.

Professor Zhang Junyi’s re-election as President reflects the broad recognition of his outstanding professional expertise in radiation oncology, as well as his longstanding dedication to cancer prevention initiatives, public welfare, and academic development.
Looking ahead, leveraging the Association’s strong academic platform and under the leadership of Professor Zhang Junyi, we will continue to advance the distinctive integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in radiation oncology, deepen academic collaboration, promote the wider adoption of advanced technologies, and strengthen public education on cancer prevention.
